I am incredibly excited to share the news that I have accepted an offer to join the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on January 1, 2025 as an Associate Professor in the School of Information Sciences!!!
The appointment is conditional upon the University of Illinois promotion and tenure process and subsequent Board of Trustees approval. Therefore, I will join the faculty as a Visiting Associate Professor in January until the appointment has been approved.
I am incredibly thankful to Nate Hill, Becca Quon, all of my colleagues at the Metropolitan New York Library Council, including METRO’s Board of Trustees and our Center’s advisory board members who have all been tremendously generous and supportive of me and our work at the Digital Equity Research Center during our time together. It’s been such an amazing experience to have worked at METRO during this time and to have led the Center over these past few years. I look forward to ongoing projects together!
I am also excited to share the news that I plan to launch the Digital Equity Action Research Laboratory (DEAR Lab) in the iSchool at Illinois when I start my new position in January.
Thank you to Sharon Strover, Karen Mossberger, and Christopher Ali who supported my application to Illinois, and everyone who has written a letter of recommendation on my behalf for academic positions that I have applied to over the past ten years!
I look forward to joining my amazing colleagues in the iSchool at Illinois, many of whom have been dear friends and colleagues since I left UIUC after receiving my PhD there in 2014.
While the future for public education in this country remains uncertain in many ways, under the incoming Presidential administration, I couldn’t be more honored and thrilled to join a public institution with such an incredible reputation and commitment to public engagement.
